FACIAL CARE TIP
EXFOLIATION
The importance of exfoliation! but be careful
not to overdo it because Overexfoliating prevents
the skin's from repairing/healing itself!
With time, the skin's natural exfoliation mechanism slows
down considerably, dead cells quickly accumulate at the
surface of the epdidermis, inducing thickening of the corneal
layer. The skin breaths with more difficulty, it's texture
becomes irregular, it is less supple to the touch and the
complexion loses some of its luminosity. Wrinkles and fine
lines are more prominent. It is therefore important to use an
exfoliating product regularly, not only to deep cleanse the
skin and refine its texture, making it smoother, softer but
also to even out ant brighten the complexion and helps
prevent brown spots/discolorations. In additon, it will
respond much better to the treatment products tht will be
applied later...
If you are using aha creams or aha serums and wish to use
mechanical scrubs or other exfoliant products along with
your aha products they may be used sparingly once in a
while OR EVERY TWO WEEKS by some skin types but be
careful because over-exfoliating the skin is not helpful and
can cause problems such as irritation or a rash-like breakout.
Remember you can do a 2 in 1 mask/exfoliation by using
products like dr. renaud enzymatic peeling below,
phyto sintesi AHA mask, hyl papaya enzyme mask and so
on....... You exfoliate and mask at the same time....
Exfoliate once a week for mos skins drier or sensitive skins
every other week is recommended or if and when needed
depending on your skin condition (calloused, flaky), sun
damage, thick, sallow and so on ....skin type (acne, thick and
so on....) also how you take care of your skin. The usual
recommended program is once a week but use if and when
needed up to 2 times a week or what your esthetician
recommends for you or listen to the response of your own
skin!!! Your skin will tell you if you are over exfoliating
because it will feel irritated......
In your 50s or if you have overly sensitive skin if and when
needed, every other week is recommended but do what is
best for your skin, it is best to use a non grain exfoliator like
the peeling above or phytogel or if you wish to use a grain
exfoliator just the application of the product is enough to
give you the exfoliation needed and leave on the skin for a
few minutes then remove with washcloth or add to your
cleanser for a a gentler exfoliation....
Most skins have the ability to exfoliate itself naturally but the
use of soap, alcohol, water, fragrances (perfumes) the sun,
the environment, smoking, acne (skin conditions), using the
wrong products hardens the outer dead skin layer, thereby
delaying the natural process of exfoliation and aging skin
due to the slowing down of cell renewal.
When you exfoliate you open up the pores; thus loosening
debris, blackheads and etc... for easier removal of the latter
during cleansing/masking and acheive tighter/smaller
looking pores..... remember with proper skin caring most
blackheads and debris will get removed on there own over
time no need to squeeze them out... Really stubborn
blackheads should be removed by your esthetician if they
just won't dissapear over time..To get rid of excess
blackheads at first you may need to exfoliate more often
then once a week or use AHA creams daily ...
