ROSACEA/COUPEROSE/ERYTHROSIS/DIFFUSED
REDNESS
DIFFUSED REDNESS of the skin, across the cheeks and the nose, is almost the temporary
manifestation that translate into an excessive reaction to ordinary situations such as sudden
changes in temperature, alcohol or spicy food consumption.  Over time these may progress to
erythrosis and coupe rose.

We speak of
ERYTHROSIS when there is permanent dilation of blood vessels on the face,
especially across the cheeks and the nose.

As to
COUPEROSE, some vessels are more dilated than others and are clearly visible over a
background of erythrosis.  15% of he population is affected by this skin condition that may lead to
rosacea.
Therefore is important to pay particular attention to these so called vasco-reactive skins in order to
improve their aesthetic aspect and prevent their characteristic signs from getting worst.

ROSACEA the most severe manifestation of a vasco-reactive skin, is a chronic, progressive and
benighn dermatitis causing inflammation and redness of the face, it is common enough since it
affects over 45 million people worldwide - 13 million in North America of which 2 million are
Canadians.
ROSACEA is characterized by 3 main clinical signs that may be combined in a varying manner
and located mainly on the central area of the face:
1- inflammation of the central area of the face - in the form of flushes or permanent redness
sometimes with swelling
2- Telangiectasia (Visible capillaries)
3- Papular of papulopustular eruptions

Rosacea cannot be cured but its manifestations may be controlled and its progression
limited.

continuous, consistent use! do not switch back and forth to different products!
Also for some people you many need to at the beginning use products
every 2-3 days instead of daily or introduce one product at a time until your
skin adapts to the change...... then resume to daily use once your skin
adapts to your new regimen or creams...... sometimes when you use too
new many products all at once some skins have a difficult time with all the
change all at once and does not like it  and may react.....  if this happens try
to introduce slowly one product at a time....... like use one cream for one
week then the next week, add a second product, third week add another
and so on.... go at your own skin paste/reaction/tolerance.

Rosacea is a disorder found usually in the 25-60 yrs age group but if you are genetically predisposed it can
develop at any age!!!.
Rosacea often manifests itself in Caucasian and very fair skin, this skin type is often highly sensitive to heat,
wind, cold and especially the sun. Years of exposure to these elements often manifests into Rosacea later in
life.  The severity, however, increases as you age so managing your condition is of the utmost importance.
In its mildest form, rosacea causes prominent redness in the cheeks, giving the impression that the affected
person is chronically blushing.
Rosacea starts with skin that stays persistently red and doesn't return to its normal color.  Left untreated it
can cause
papules (red solid bumps) or pustules (pus-filled bumps). Other symptoms, such as enlarged blood
vessels, flaky patches, oily skin, skin sensitivity, and breakouts, become more and more visible.
Once you have rosacea your old skincare regimens is old news.
You have to change your skincare and your routine.
Remember there is not one regimen that works for everyone! but  following some basic guidelines will help you
make the right decisions for your skin.
Usually found on the cheeks and nose but if neglected can appear on the chin and forehead, these areas are
usually flushed red in appearance and may be accompanied by pustules and papules.
Rosacea is rarely, if ever, accompanied by blackheads.
The condition usually requires medical intervention, especially if it is advanced or excessive and persistent.
The treatment is similar to acne.

Several factors may play part in ROSACEA  occurrence:
- Seborrhea (excessive secretion of sebum, excessive oiliness causing the obstruction of the follicles and the
formation of impurities)
-Endocrine changes, Hormonal Changes
-low levels of vitamin Bs and Zinc
-the use of bad products
-gastric irregularities - poor stomach acid
-liver disease
-excessive use of drugs, alcohol, spices, coffee, chocolate
-hereditary
-sensitive skin
-prolonged periods of sun exposure can also contribute to the effects of Rosacea

Difference between acne and rosacea is that usually Acne appears mainly on the oily areas of the face, such
as the nose, chin, sides of face and forehead and sometimes the chest and back, while rosacea is  more
prominent on cheeks but if left untreated may appear on chin and forehead.
Acne occurs most often in teenagers and young adults or during menopausal years.
Rosacea usually strikes between the ages of 30-50.
Another difference is that acne pimples are varied and include blackheads, whiteheads, and small or large
cysts, while the blemishes associated with rosacea are generally small, pimple-like red bumps (papules) and
no blackheads.

Rosacea can either make your skin dry, flaky and sensitive or oily and dull with breakouts.
